Itinerary

Day 1 :
Marrakech

We will pick you up in Marrakech, and drive you to your comfortable, traditional riad in the stunning ancient medina. You will have a bike fitting, and we will then have a short bike tour of Marrakech to get you accustomed to your new ride. After, you will have time for exploring the souks, bargain with locals, browse through the handmade crafts, and soak up the vibrant atmosphere of the famous Jma el Fna square, before resting your body in the riad before the upcoming cycling adventure!

After a delicious local breakfast in Marrakech, we will have a short transfer away from the busy city roads, and will begin our cycling adventure in the small town of Outghal, where the pace of life seems a world away from Marrakech. From here we will have a long but gradual climb through the foothills of Mount Toubkal before a long, winding descent into the lush Asni Valley. We will follow the river which snakes through the valley floor, until we arrive at the town of Ijoukak, nestled within the mountainous terrain. Here you will stay at a comfortable hotel for the night.

Today we continue to follow the river down through Asni Valley, before beginning the challenging climb over the Tizi n Test mountain pass. This will require around 1000m of altitude gain, until we reach the pass which towers at 2092m above sea level. The struggle is well worth it; the views from the top are amazing, and the descent is even better! This is well known as one of the most beautiful roads in Morocco. Our ride ends in Oulad Berhil where we stay in a traditional riad, feasting on delicious local food after the hard day.

After breakfast, we will leave the High Atlas Mountains and transfer by minibus over the Souss Plain into the Anti Atlas Mountains. Here, the landscape becomes more dry, rocky and arid, with the oranges, reds and browns intermixed with vibrant green palms of the desert oases. We will start riding from the small town of Igherm. From here it is an undulating days ride which is spent mostly up at around 1600m altitude, allowing you to truly soak up the stunning surroundings, until we start a exhilerating 20km descent down into unque town of Tafraoute. The ancient Kasbahs and mudbrick houses are nestled between giant boulders and interesting rock formations, carved by millions of years of wind and erosion. Our accommodation will be in a fantastic old building with a well-stocked bar and a swimming pool, which offers great views over the Anti Atlas Mountains.

Today’s ride is probably the toughest of the week, but you will be rewarded with fantastic views - no pain no gain! We leave our hotel and head straight into the mountains for a fantastic but challenging 20km climb over Tizi n'Mill mountain pass. From here we have 50km of undulating and mostly downhill switchback roads all the way to the ancient town of Ait Baha. From Ait Baha we transfer to the Atlantic town of Agadir where we spend the night. Our hotel is just a short walk from the beach allowing you to go for a swim in the afternoon, and soak up the beach-city vibes of this unique Moroccan city.

After breakfast we ride directly from our hotel in Agadir. The first 10km of the days ride is on slightly busier roads as we make our way out of the town into the Atlantic countryside. We will pass through small towns and resorts, with the Atlantic crashing down to our left. Today’s ride is probably the most picturesque of the week; Paradise Valley is an extremely fertile area and our gentle climb winds its way through dense palm trees all the way up to the village of Imouzzer and its waterfalls, situated on an open plateau at 1000m. We will stay in a hotel this evening.

For our final day of riding we start with a fantastic long descent from our hotel in Imouzzer. Most of the day will be spent riding through palm trees and past traditional villages, including the popular surfer villages of Tamaraught and Tagazout, where you can see a totally unique side of Moroccan culture. There are several challenging climbs and plenty of fast descent as we make our way towards the coast. After lunch we will aim for the small village of Assaka, here we load the bikes onto the vehicles and transfer into Essaouira. In Essaouira we stay in a lovely traditional riad just out of the town. After a little rest, in the evening we will head to the beautiful town for a large celebratory meal!

After breakfast we have some free time to pack up bikes or explore the charming old port town of Essaouira, with its ancient medinas and chilled pace of life. Enjoy some delicious, freshly caught seafood from the harbour. At around lunchtime, you can chose to stay there, or we will transfer to your desired desination in Marrakech. The drive to Marrakech is around 2.5hours. You are also welcome to join us on another journey!
